Josh Messina from Kurunga Kelpies is looking forward to hosting Canowindra’s Yard Dog Trials on 4th November.
On Saturday, 4th November, Canowindra Showground will host the annual Yard Dog Trials. Josh Messina from Kurunga Kelpies will once again be organising the event and expects approximately 80 to 100 entrants on the day.
Josh’s enthusiasm for the sport developed after watching the yard dog trials at Mudgee field days as a 10 year old.
“I find it amazing, the connection a person can develop with a working dog. The day my parents brought me my first working dog, I instantly developed a passion for the sport and have been competing ever since. I now have my own working kelpie stud, Kurunga Kelpies,” Josh said.
Josh encourages local working dog owners to register for the event, with several sections available on the day. The cost for each class will vary depending on the grade.
A judges’ talk will commence at 7am for maiden and novice categories. At 8am the encourage category will take place. The local category will start at approximately 11am.

The Fat Parcel van from Eugowra will be serving breakfast from 7:30am and will be on site the whole event, for lunchtime orders.
