Preparations for the 2018 Canowindra Show are well underway along with arrangements for the Showgirl Competition. After listening to the feedback from 2017 there are a few changes to this year’s competition. One major change this year is the adjustments to the age of entry for the junior category. Junior Showgirls can now be aged between 13yrs and 17yrs old. Seniors remain at 18yrs to 25yrs old.
The Canowindra Showgirl Information Night will be held on Friday August 10th and is open to anyone interested in finding out more about the Canowindra Showgirl competition and the opportunities that can result from being involved. Explanations will be given on how to enter, what is involved and why you would benefit from being a part of the competition. The Information Night is open to entrants, parents, support people or anyone curious about what the Showgirl competition is all about.
Applications for the Showgirl Competition will close on August 18th.
On the 19th August a Showgirl Development Day will be held. To support the entrants, this year a Development Day will be held where Showgirl entrants will be equipped with public speaking tips and tricks, take part in a mock interview and develop public relations skills. Local guest speakers will also educate the Showgirl entrants on the rich agricultural enterprises that surround the Canowindra community.
Within the Showgirl competition, community service and voluntary work is encouraged. To promote this, the Showgirls will
participate in a Working Bee at the Canowindra Showgrounds on 1st September to prepare for the upcoming show.
On Sunday September 9th from 9am – 5pm interviews will be conducted in the morning, where the entrants will be asked questions by a panel of three judges. This is an opportunity for the judges to get to know the entrants this will be followed by a High Tea. The Canowindra Show will be held from the 21st – 22nd September when the 2018 Showgirls will be announced.
