The Woodbridge Cup representative team has been announced, with 4 players from the Canowindra Tigers being selected in the 18man squad. Nick Wilson, Brydon Hughes and brothers Kain and Aaron Earsman have been named in the team alongside players from other teams within the Woodbridge Cup.
Canowindra Tigers coach, Dean Stanbury, will again take charge of the team that heads to Dubbo on Saturday the 10th of May, 2014 in attempt to retain the Western Cup Quad Series trophy. The quad series is contested by representative teams comprised from the Woodbridge Cup, Centennial Coal Cup, Castlereagh League and Barwon Darling competitions; which the Woodbridge Cup team won in a closely contested final last year against the Castlereagh League team.
Coach Stanbury is excited by the opportunity to coach the team again in his attempt to win back to back titles.
“It is a pleasure to take the best players from our competition away to compete against the best players from other leagues. I have a large, mobile forward pack at my disposal and a back line that could easily compete in Group 10 or 11. We are going up to Dubbo to play hard and fast football. I want the other teams to know where the standard of second division rugby league is in the Western region,” Stanbury said.
