The lights lit up Tom Clyburn Oval on Friday night with the first game of the 2018 season against old rivals Cargo. The Tigers started the game full of running and just after five minutes put their first of eight tries scored on the board.
With smart play they swung the ball wide for Marika to score in the corner his first of a hat trick which McLean then converted. The Tigers defence frustrated the Cargo attack which resulted in lost ball, giving the Tigers posession in good field position which they capitalised on.
Canowindra led 30 to 6 at the break and continued the quality of play in the second half. The Tigers ran out winners 48 to 12 . Try scorers were Marika 3, Wally Gaitor, Blake Wilson, Kain Earsman, Mick Clyburn, Bryden Hughes. And Matt McLean 8 goals. Tigers travel to Peak Hill this Saturday. The Tigresses were beaten by a very fast Cargo outfit 58-10.
