Woodbridge Cup

31 July, 2024 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

The Canowindra Tigresses League Tag team have had a very successful 2024 season.

Last weekend, the Canowindra Tigeresses missed out on the minor premiership with a nail-biting 12 all draw against Manildra.

The Tigeresses needed to win the match to take the minor premiership, but were denied only in the closing minutes when Manildra scored in the corner to even up the score. The Tigeresses now play in Cowra on Sunday against Cowra.

First grade held off Manildra 28-16 in a tense closing to the game, with Canowindra down a man with 13 minutes remaining. The tigers were holding a lead 18-8, but things soon changed when Manildra, having a glut of possession scored out wide twice, both not converted. Holding onto an 18-16 lead the Tigers scored in the corner, moving the score to a more comfortable 22-16. In the 78th minute James Dine put the game away with an intercept to race away 80m to score under the post and Rob Burn to convert, playing his 250th game for the Tigers.

A big congratulations to Rob in reaching this milestone and scoring a massive total of 1,631 point during his career, well done.!The juniors put it to Cowra, but an intercept from Cowra, to go under the post sealed it for the Cowra tam 24-16.
