Canowindra Tigers consolidated their position at the top of the Woodbridge Cup competition with a resounding win over CSU 50-8 scoring 10 tries to 2. CSU posted first points on the board to lead early 4 – 0.Shortly after the Tigers posted their first points with a try to Joe Treasure. In the eighteenth minute Luke Watt scored near the post from a reverse pass from Jack Grant. Elli Reid scored to extend the lead to 14-4. the Tigers gaining the ascendancy in the match and consolidating in scoring well constructed tries. Further tries to the Tigers from Bailey Kennedy and Joe Treasure on the bell giving the Tigers a comfortable lead at the break 24-4.
CSU defended well but mistakes gave the Tigers good field position put more pressure on their defence.Nathan Barlow scored out wide to extend the lead to 30-4 shortly after Nathan Barlow scored his second try followed by Nathan Whatman off a short pass from Lawrence to lead 38-4. CSU scored their second try to go to eight points but late in the match it was all the Tigers way with further tries to Jack Grant and Bailey Kennedy for the final score 50-8. League Tag: This was very entertaining game considering the conditions with the Tigeresses forging another win 20-6. Laura Price scored in the 10th minute which was converted by Hayley White and in the 14th minute Celeste Gavin scored a great try and Laura Price scored her second try from a sintering run showing all speed and agility the Tigeresses were looking in complete control 16-0 at the break. The second half was a different story as CSU controlled the ball far better and put pressure on Canowindra’s defence. In the tenth minute they were rewarded with a try to Lily Bannan and converted by Samantha Hurst. Georgia Kennedy sped onto a great pass to close off a confident win 20-6 which they remain undefeated.
Juniors: With a cool sunny day at Blayney the Tigers won on the bell with a try to Tyler Burn 10-8. This was a mistake riddled game from both sides on a very spongy field. The Tigers scored first with a try to Cooper Scifleet converted by Ethan Burling 6-0. Blayney hit back with a try to trail 6-4. The second half was stalled with a serious injury to Colby Burling, by all reports is doing well, the club wishes him well and a speedy recovery. The Bears leading 8-6 at this stage and with 18 minutes remaining it was up to the Tigers to rally bring the win home. The Tigers held out the Bears and in the last minutes attacking the Bears line Tyler pounced to find an opening on the line to gain the lead. The cubs are in 3rd position only 3 points off first place.
