Dear Editor,
Your latest edition has brought back so many wonderful memories growing up in Canowindra in the 40’s and 50’s. The carpet store (previously the picture theatre), was one such great memory where we saw great films such as the first cinemascope viewing of “The Robe”, our school concerts on the screen stage and the Canowindra Dramatic Society plays in which my parents took part.
Will never forget the dances where music was presented by Dougie Malouf belting out tunes on an ordinary piano accompanied by Ronnie Cole on his drums. No electronic music in those days, don’t know how the piano survived after Dougie thrashed the life out of the keyboard! I enjoy reading each week, great to see an online community edition that otherwise might just be Tik Tok or similar.
Thanks for the memories.
