Women’s Bowls

15 June, 2016 By editor

The winners of the final of the District Triples played on Wednesday 8th June was won by the Cowra team of Sharon Bohanna, Dawn Dye and Sharon Hubber who defeated the Parkes team of Rosemary Mitchell, Cherie Frame and Liz Byrne 18-17. The teams were 17 all on the 18th end
and an extra end was required with the Cowra team scoring 1 shot and winning the final.

Liz Byrne did not play in the final as she was not available, so Cherie Frame skipped and the sub. Rhona Wendt played second. Congratulations to the Cowra team, the Triples Champions for 2016. It was a great final to watch. Well done Sharon, Dawn and Sharon.

The Triples Championship Final was played on Tuesday 14th June between Joice McNaught (sub) for Betty Jenkins, Jill Messenger and Colleen Crump who defeated Libby Balcombe, Nancy Morrow and Margaret Gosper 15-12. Congratulations to Colleen’s team, the Triples Champions for 2016.

There were 4 games of three bowls played:
Ellen Petty and Daph Bryant defeated Shirley Robson and Bobbie Turner.
Dianne Mooney and Moyna Rue defeated Radka Tatterson and Diane Slattery 18-11.

Jean Roth and Jenny Middleton defeated Gwen Haydon and Jeanette Wheeldon 14-10.
Deanna Noble and Sheryn O’Malveney defeated Pauline Carroll and Diane Slattery 22-17.
The Lucky Draw was won by Moyna Rue with No. 1.
The Club’s Annual General Meeting is being held on Tuesday 28th after bowls. Nominations are still required for President, Secretary, Assistant Secretary and Assistant Treasurer. All other positions have been filled.

The ladies have teams competing in the District Fours and the Senior Fours being played at Parkes Railway Diggers from Monday 20th until Wednesday 22nd June. We wish them good bowling and some good luck.
