Women’s Bowls

18 November, 2015 By editor

Only one match was played on Tuesday 17 November. The result of the Rose Bowl Final saw Colleen Crump defeat Nancy Morrow with a score of 26-18. Thanks to the marker Betty Jenkins. The results of the sponsored bowls day were:
Spider – Heather Hoad
Winners (with the highest winning score) – Joyce Middleton and Marion Wilson.
Runners Up (with the highest losing score) – Joy Beattie and Radka Tatterson.
The Lucky Draw was won by Diane Slattery with No. 9.
The Points Score winners for October were Bobbie Turner, Radka Tatterson and Colleen Crump with 15 points each.

Two Canowindra teams are playing in the Young Cherry Blossom Triples on Tuesday and Wednesday 17-18 November. One team is made up of Daph Bryant, Moyna Rue and Christine Pickard, while the other one is made up of Jill Messenger, Deanna Noble and Sandy McDonald.

Thank you to President Sheryn O’Malveney for organising the Mystery
Tour on Tuesday 10 November, which was enjoyed by the 24 bowlers who attended. Thank you also to our excellent bus driver David O’Malveney.

We went through Gooloogong and Cowra to Young where we visited a few interesting places. The most interesting I thought was the Young Museum which had a great collection of memorabilia of the early years of Young. Following this we all enjoyed a delicious lunch at the Young Services Club,
and came back home the way we went. The Melbourne Cup Day Party was held
on Tuesday 3 November and those who attended, including some menfolk, all had an enjoyable time. We had a very tasty lunch supplied by the ladies. The most successful with the sweeps was Lorne Burgess who won $88. She had two firsts, one second and one third. Well done Lorne!

Our Christmas Party and Presentation Day will be held with a lunch at Taste
Canowindra on 8 December. Our New Year get together will be held at Radka
Tatterson’s place on Tuesday 12 January 2016, commencing at 11am.
Bowls will resume on Tuesday 19 January 2016 so we can get some Pennant
Practice.
