There’s only one week to go until Ocsober and it’s time to lose the booze to help Aussie kids. Alcohol causes 15 deaths and hospitalises 430 Australians every day. Life Education, the organisation behind the annual Ocsober campaign, is challenging Australians to use their willpower, lose the booze this October and fundraise in support of the preventative drug and alcohol programmes they deliver in schools.
“There is no time better than right now to stand up and take action. Adults across Australia need to help prevent our future generations from adopting these alcohol related patterns by signing up for Ocsober 2014 and teaching kids to find their willpower and learn about the effects of alcohol,” says Life Education NSW CEO, Jay Bacik. This year, Life Education is aiming to raise $1million during Ocsober, which will enable the not-for-profit to reach many more children across Australia, empowering them to make better choices and lead healthier and safer lives.
