Students from St Edwards Primary School would like to say “Thank You” to everyone who helped out during the floods.
As the latest flood event unfolded in our region, the community banded together in such an extraordinary way that the Canowindra Phoenix staff would like to dedicate this edition to the Canowindra community.
This edition is to say thank you to each and every person in Canowindra that stepped up to not only support our town, but the surrounding areas of Molong, Cowra, Cudal and most importantly Eugowra.
Generous acts by the community included donations, transporting people, supplying food, supporting our neighbours and filling a whopping 3,500 sandbags and delivering them to those in need.
“It was just amazing to see the community come together and offer support and services where it was needed, and quickly. As soon as anything was required, it happened,” said Owen Lloyd from the Canowindra SES.
The Canowindra Services Club welcomed donations for both locals and those affected in neighbouring towns. There was an overwhelming amount of donations received, filling the club dance floor. Special thanks to the Canowindra Services Club for co-ordinating the donations and the volunteers that helped sort them.
Canowindra businesses also donated services, time and staff to assist local flood victims and extended that support to Eugowra in the days following the Canowindra flood event.

The aftermath of the biggest flood event in 50 years will continue to impact the town for some months, and we are certain we will continue to see the community band together to support each other.
