12 teams have entered the Western Challenge Ladies League Tag Carnival at Tom Clyburn Oval on the 15th March. It’s shaping up to be a great day with some of the finest female athletes in the Central West showcasing their skills and clubs from Group 10, Group 11 and the Woodbridge Cup taking part. The Challenge began in 2011 as the inaugural tournament which was won by Canowindra Tigers. In 2012 Bathurst St Pats took the trophy, 2013 was Orange Hawks turn to win and 2014 saw Orange Cyms dominate the day. A convener of the event, Andrew Pull, says “this year I can’t pick a winner but really like Lithgow as an outsider, with Orange Cyms, Eugowra and Dubbo Westside all top seeds and equal favourites for the day.” This year the tournament has changed from a Saturday to a Sunday to support the NRL game at Bathurst Saturday afternoon. With the Western Challenge a fitting finale to a great weekend. Free entry to the event with kick off at 10.30am this weekend!
