Weeroona – A New Standard Of Aged Care

13 February, 2019 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Weeroona is located in Cowra and provides the community with an exceptional Aged Care facility with the highest quality of accommodation. All two bedroom and single rooms were recently revamped with a new colour scheme, curtains, cupboards and linen.

They also have 40 flat screen televisions ensuring you will be living the highlife into your advancing years. The dining and lounge room areas have a fresh modern décor with a contemporary design and layout, complimented with artwork and quality furnishings and fittings.

Weeroona has 95 aged care beds and offers residents the choice of a private suite or a shared two bedroom companion room with privacy partitions making the room ideal for couples.

Weeroona is going through many changes at present, one in particular is the change in their Management team. Kate Chew was appointed Facility Manager in October and now Husband, Rob Chew, has been appointed Director of Nursing. This new Management team has experience in Aged Care on the NSW Mid North Coast, where they spent 26 years, prior to Rob wishing to return to his home town of Cowra last year.

Kate says, “We have a terrific team of qualified staff across all designation, encouraging and supporting residents to maintain independence and quality of life.”

“Seniors Week is a busy time for us at the centre, while we are linking into the community activities, we have Bush Poetry, Valentine’s Day Happy Hours and Quiz Days planned at Weeroona,” continued Kate.

Visitors and volunteers are always welcome at Weeroona. “We would encourage anyone wishing to become a volunteer in our facility, to chat with residents and get involved in bus trips and activities of the day, as a very rewarding experience,” said Kate.

Weeroona offers both permanent and short term respite care and have around 120 staff including highly professional, trained nursing staff. Registered nurses have a 24/7 coverage of the facility and you can rest easy with over 70 years of combined aged care experience across the senior management team. All meals are prepared and freshly cooked daily in the onsite kitchen.

Weeroona also offer its own built in hairdressing facility for residents along with a dedicated lifestyle team that provide a diverse range of activities that meet emotional, health, intellectual, spiritual and cultural needs of every resident.

Most importantly the staff at Weeroona encourage resident independence and quality of life.. Weeroona are also now providing transport to and from appointments with their own vehicle on site. If you would like more information visit www.weeroonaagedcare.com.au
