The Canowindra Phoenix team are still on cloud nine after taking out Best Business in Cabonne at Friday night’s Daroo Business Awards at Eat Your Greens in Eugowra. After winning different categories in previous years, The Canowindra Phoenix beat the largest field of finalists in the history of the Daroos to take out the coveted major award.
The newspaper’s publisher Sarah Maynard accepted the trophy from Cabonne Mayor Kevin Beatty. “Thank you to my amazing team, family the readers and
advertisers who make The Canowindra Phoenix possible each week,” said Mrs Maynard.
Awards chairman Bruce Buchanan said the 2018 Daroos had a record field of finalists and the largest crowd with 290 people attending this year’s presentation dinner. Mr Buchanan praised the members of the Eugowra Events and Tourism Association who did a spectacular job decorating the marquee during a wild dust storm.
Canowindra Pre-School took out Best Ongoing Business, Eddy’s of Canowindra won Excellence in Accommodation, Ian Simpson and Co was awarded Highly Commended in Best New Business, Coco Harvest Canowindra took out Excellence in Marketing, Advertising and Communications and the Canowindra Balloon Festival won Excellence in Tourism Business with a Highly Commended awarded to The Age of Fishes Museum. The winner of the newest award Business Fostering Disability Inclusion went to The Age of Fishes Museum.
Well done to Cargo based businesses Leanne Pearce Dog Wash who won Best Home-Based Business and Timber Tales who took out Highly Commended in Excellence in Hospitality.
