Work has begun at the Canowindra Soldiers Memorial Hospital to build a new Emergency Department (ED), to improve the Ambulance and disability entrance. The new ED is being built in a different location to allow better access for patients and visitors.
“Improvements to the Ambulance entrance will ensure that patients can be transported from Ambulance to the Hospital more quickly,” said Janice Rumph.
The work taken out internally will include new paint, replacement of internal cabinets and equipment, along with an updated and clearer signage. There will also be an installation of a security facility with upgraded cameras and door access improved.
“Works to improve access and security at the facility will ensure our patients and staff are safer so we have the best facility possible to deliver great patient care. The works will make a real difference to the local community,” Janice said.
The new upgrade will be energy saving with solar PV and solar hot water panels, lighting upgrades, new air-conditioning units and bathroom and kitchen facilities will all be more environmentally friendly and save energy.
The Canowindra Soldiers Memorial Hospital ensure the community of Canowindra that there will be minimal disruptions throughout the year but ask that everyone bear with them as work is undertaken. The ED work is set to be complete by the end of this year 2017 and is being completed by Renanscent and local contractors.
“This year is going to be a big one for Canowindra Hospital, and I’m looking forward to seeing the results of these works currently underway,” said Janice.
