Canowindra Arts Inc, formed to help establish our town as a regional cultural hub, is moving ahead on preparations for its third major art exhibition in April. Setting a “Sky High” creative challenge for its artists, the exhibition will be officially opened on Good Friday, April 14 and run to April 26, coinciding with and supporting Canowindra’s spectacular annual Balloon Challenge and Balloon Glow.
The new show has been designed to consolidate the success that the new arts body has had with its “Artful Eight” and “Artful Eight Plus” exhibitions which have drawn large crowds and high praise from local, regional and interstate art lovers. The “Artful Eight Plus” exhibition attracted more than 14 local and regional artists and expanded the entries to include works by the celebrated ceramicist Greg Daly and amazing images by the Farmpix aerial photographer Chris Watson.
It also included graphic wartime sketches by the highly skilled 17-year-old artist Kaluum Lee Maple of Mullion Creek that are on show in a promotional mini-exhibition in the AGL site’s front window as we approach the Anzac Day rememberance on Tuesday April 25.
“Artful Eight Plus” drew a largely local crowd of visitors – a total of 60 guests for its official opening and more than 300 viewers during the week-long show, proving that Canowindra Arts is building a solid core of Canowindra and local regional supporters for its future plans
