Union Bank

Inside the newly renovated Union Bank

Georgie and Tom Ward purchased the Union Bank in September 2013, with a partner from Sydney. The Union Bank was started as a Wine Bar in 2004 and has been the epicentre of social events in Orange since that time. It is located in the heart of Orange and is the Central West’s premier wine bar.

Geogie and Tom opened the Swinging Bridge Wine Cellar in Canowindra in 2011 as part of the Finns Store complex and have traded there as a wine cellar for just over two years. They are currently working with Jackie and Geoff Yeo to develop further experiences with the Wine Cellar.

Changes at the Union Bank have included remodelling internally, by moving the serving bar to the back of the room, which allows for a lot more space. They have also put in large leather lounges, and have updated the menu as well as adding in an extensive range of local and interstate wines.

Included in the menu are shared plates to show the best expression of regional produce which is of such a high quality. One of the Specialities include cidersoaked trunkey creek chorizo with Racine sourdough.

The Union Bank is open 7 days for a wine or shared plate. Enjoy live music from 2.30 to 5.30pm on weekends. The Union Bank also does functions that can be catered for, which means that we can cater for groups of 15 or above, for that special occasion. We also can cater for conferences.

Plans for the future include to deliver a great wine and dining experience. Tom said that this is a very different environment from just simply growing grapes and making wine – it has been a steep learning curve, however an extremely enjoyable one and Georgie and I are really loving it.
