Trivia Night Brings Joy

31 October, 2019 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Mental Health Awareness Trivia Night organiser Eleena Markcrow says she was amazed to see so many people in smiles and laughter at the event that happened last Saturday night.

The event was organised by Eleena in aid of mental health services awareness, after a local business approached her earlier this year with the idea.

Local mental health worker Dianne Gill presented on the night, and there were also many flyers and brochures on hand with information on what to do when affected by mental health troubles.

The night featured numerous rounds of trivia, as well as live entertainment from local entertainer Tommy Jeffs and local band Palumbo and Starr, with some special guest musicians.

“It was so much fun. It was so amazing to see all the smiles on people’s faces and to see lots of laughter,” Eleena said.

“The message about mental health services really got out. There were over 100 people at the event, which was a great turn out for asmall community.”

Organisers were very gateful for the great job Oli Statham did on sound.

Eleena said there were some amazing dress-ups, including a table full of Rick Astleys that named themselves “Never Gonna Quiz You Up”. Another table dressed up as “roadies” as well.

Celebrity English-turned-Australian singer Leo Sayer also appeared via video link to ask one of the trivia questions.

“All the helpers were amazing, and I’m very grateful for them. Everyone learned about the mental health services that are available and received the information quite well, and I just loved seeing everyone smiling and laughing together as a community,” Eleena said.
