This weekend the Canowindra Showground will be buzzing with the Central West Tractor Trek Group holding their 2nd annual 24 hour Tractorthon alongside the Annual Swap Meet.
The 24 hour Tractorthon will start rolling at 2pm on Saturday 3rd August and finish at 2pm on Sunday 4th August. The event involves four tractors running for 24 hours around the trotting track with driver changes every 30 minutes to raise money for Little Wings. Little Wings is a not-for-profit organisation, whose aim is to support families to reduce the financial burden, emotional strain and travel fatigue experienced when a child is unwell.
Once again this year representatives from the four local school’s will be in the hot seat and driving the old tractors for an hour between 11am-12noon on Sunday. Mrs Roxane Breen from St Edward’s Primary School, Miss Erica Minikin from Canowindra Public School, Ms Katie Kelly from Canowindra Pre-School and Neryle Smurthwaite from Canowindra High School will all have a turn.
The school representatives are all looking for sponsorship for how many laps they can complete on the day. Raffle tickets will also be available for sale at $5 each with first prize being a brand new Hyundai car.
The Annual Swap Meet will begin from 6am on Sunday morning at the Showground. Entry fee is $3 per person with lots on offer this year! The Canowindra Pony Club will have a full canteen going on Sunday with Bacon and Egg Rolls, Sausage Sandwiches, Meat and gravy rolls, tea, coffee and sweets all available for purchase.
