Tommy Comes To Town

5 December, 2013 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Having spent his early formative years in Canowindra, new owner of the Deli Lama, Tommy Jeffs has returned and feels like he is coming home.

“I used to come over every Friday night on the train or with friends and go to the dances at the Community Hall next to the RSL.” Tommy said.

Living in Port Macquarie for 10 years, Tommy raised just on $800,000 for charities such as Salvos, Cancer Council, Breast Cancer and Camp Quality. He received Citizen of the Year Award in Port Macquarie in 2005.

Currently a board member of Cowra Tourism, Tommy moved back to Cowra in 2009 to help care for his ill sister, and help his brother run the Imperial Hotel. Since being home, he placed 3rd in NSW for his food in the Good Food Guide, and has also raised $36,000 for headspace in Cowra, $12,000 for Cowra Eisteddfod and $16,000 for the Cowra Hospital.

Tommy intends on continuing his selfless charity work in Canowindra as well, whilst also running the Deli Lama.

“The Deli is a great little café, and has scrumptious gourmet good and sensational coffee!” says Tommy.

He is also keeping golden girls Cindy, Joy & Denise on to help, and plans on developing a new menu with lots of new yummy food, including gourmet sandwiches, salads, take away meals and everyday specials.

With renovations commencing soon, Tommy plans to introduce “The Retreat” which is a ladies lounge area for birthdays, anniversaries and special events. Catering will also be available.

“I’m so very excited to be back in this wonderful community and to catch up with all my old mates and tell them “I said I would live here one day”. Tommy said.

Part two will continue next week, stay tuned for more updates!
