The Cosmos – It Is In Us

29 April, 2026 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Searching the night skies usually prompts questions, lots, as the enormity and endlessness challenges our capabilities to comprehend no edges. Meteors, asteroids, planets and moons, constellations, galaxies, black holes, stars, auroras, nebulae and stardust…..so many elements in the universe we know of already but, how much more is out there yet to be ‘discovered’ by the human brain

The National Aeronautical and Space Agency (NASA) has been leaning about space for decades and their conclusion is that “We are not just in the universe, the universe is in us”. What a challenge to our human-centric view of our lives and ‘the way things are’. What is the universe and what could or does that look like?

Kaz Clarke (Planet Phoebe) and the Bush Goddess (pennie scott) have named their joint exhibition “Cosmos: we are in it’ with creations celebrating our existences based on this understanding. Both artists are deeply curious about human characteristics and our places within the creation of every natural thing we are surrounded by, and rely upon for our quality of life.

Kaz is a prolific artist, illustrator and writer, creator of the well known Phoebe as the character in her books (and Phoebe loves tea) with deft skills in watercolours, acrylics, crayons and pencils. Her inspirations are wide spread including portraits, cats, life drawing, rusty objects and unearthly realms.

Pennie is an emerging artist utilising many types of media including inks, acrylics, water colours, pencils and her own-made pigments. Her main focus is the natural realms and how humans relate (or not) with the precious elements which enable us to live comfortable lives, and our impacts on these gifts so often taken for granted.

Everyone is welcome to the Exhibition Opening on Saturday, 2nd May at the Rosnay Cellar Door, at 6.30pm. Refreshments are provided so plan to attend the out-of-this-world experience, and support your local creatives. Entry is free and please bring your friends and family for a memorable night out.
