Last Thursday, 7th May Telstra once again went ahead and carried out a planned upgrade on the mobile base station that provides mobile coverage to Canowindra between 11 pm on Wednesday and 4.30 am on Thursday morning.
However, as all residents and businesses know, we were without mobile connections until around 2 pm in the afternoon, a further 10 hours in addition to what was proposed.
Telstra did not advise anybody in Canowindra that this was to take place. They did confirm that they had let John Cobb’s office know, however this information was not passed on at a local level.
Telstra spokesperson, Doug MacDougall has apologised for any interruptions to customer services throughout this period and has acknowledged that there should have been better communication to Canowindra residents prior to these recent upgrades.
Surely Telstra, if you are in the business of communications, you can let a small community know when there is only going to be SOS services available on mobiles?
