Johnny and the staff at IGA have been hard at work helping the community yet again this month. Through their Community Chest Programme, they have managed to raise a remarkable amount of money for local organisations. This year’s beneficiaries are the Canowindra Golf Club and Beyond Blue, with each recipient receiving an impressive $3210.
Cheques were presented by Johnny Lawrence outside IGA on Tuesday 9th February to Golf Club President, Rowley Mc- Call and representative for Beyond Blue, Rev Canon Jono Williams. When asked what the money will be used for at the Golf Club, Rowley said; “The improvements we’re hoping to make are to create more shaded areas and buy better outdoor furniture
which should make the BBQ area more user friendly for the public. We want
sporting and community clubs to utilise the area.”
Rev Canon Jono Williams has sent the cheque to Beyond Blue, which provides
information and support to help the 3 million Australian’s that are living with depression or anxiety. For those of you who shop at Lawrence’s IGA, you can choose to add your points to the Community Chest at the checkout.
One cent will also be donated from any product in the IGA catalogue with a community chest symbol next to it. “It’s simple to apply, just put your name down at the checkout” says Michelle Fisher.
