Take Off With New Cowra Airport Development

Landing at Cowra Airport now is a new aviation development with 21 freehold lots for tender. “The development aims to utilise the huge potential of the airport, which is wholly owned by Cowra Council, to benefit aviation related industries, job creation, the local community and economy,” said Cowra Mayor, Councillor Bill West. The tender opens on Monday 20th June and closes Friday 29th July. “This is your open invitation to one of the most beautiful parts of NSW with unlimited opportunity in unrestricted airspace; all land will be fullyserviced with water, power, sewer, and NBN fibre to the premises with no landing fees (under seven tonnes maximum take-off weight),” Cr West said.

Cowra Airport is a modern regional facility just two nautical miles west of the town’s CBD. Current operators provide pilot training, air charter, commercial, rural fire-fighting services, and recreational flights in an uncontrolled airspace zone. The airport also serves as the home to Brumby Aircraft Australia, a manufacturer of light sport and general aviation aircraft that recently signed a partnership deal with Aviation Industry Corporation of China. “These commercially-zoned freehold lots are for developers with a genuine commitment to the industry and its long-term prospects. This development is designed to help create new aviation related and employment-creating industries in our town,” Cr West said. Facilities include a 1630m bitumen spray-sealed runway; upgraded landing lights; ample aircraft parking; a hard stand for heavy aircraft; credit-card fuel facilities for Avgas and Jet A1; Virtual Operational Rating (VOR); and non-directional beacon (NDB).

“Air industries and operators are technology- savvy, high-value clients who bring a range of complementary economic benefits to areas where they are encouraged to operate,” Cr West explained; “While many metropolitan airports place flight and operating restrictions on their aviation industries, Cowra supports operators with vision who want to take to the skies!” he concluded.
