Originating in China, Tai Chi is one of the most effective exercises for strengthening mind and body. Some lovely locals volunteered their time last Tuesday to give a demonstration at Moyne nursing home for the residents, who thoroughly enjoyed it.
Although an art requiring great depth of knowledge and skill, it can be easy to learn and soon delivers its health benefits. Some of the women have been practicing Tai Chi for 5 years, and some are newcomers! Tai Chi improves muscular strength, flexibility and general fitness. The movement emphasis weight transference, which in turn helps balance and prevents falls.
Classes will begin again in February 2014.
