As we approach the height of summer, where better to hold a Christmas Party then right next to the Swimming Pool? That’s exactly what Lisa Cartwright did when she organised the Canowindra Swimming Pool Christmas Party on Sunday. Around $1,200 was raised over the day to go to Jellybeans, Little Athletics and the Swimming Club. The Little A’s ran the BBQ with help from Gus Arnott and Jarrod Breen and an extra special festive visitor arrived in a police car with sirens blazing. “When Santa arrived he got swamped” says Lisa, “the kids were pretty excited!” Santa was joined by the girls from Alikinetic Dane who performed for the crowd and Ellen Blair who sang and played guitar during an hour long set! “I’d worked with Ellen at the Club and not heard her sing before, she sounded fantastic. Her singing was very impressive” says Lisa. “Thank you to everyone who volunteered, to Ellen, the girls at Alikinetic and of course thanks to Santa and the Police.” When asked if Lisa has plans for another party next year she says there’s been interest from people wanting to help next time around already, “I’ll come down from this high and then figure out if I can take organising it again!” Lisa joked.
