Last week’s swimming club was well attended and saw some more excellent performances recorded. In the 50m Open Butterfly, Amber Johnson took 5 seconds off her seed time and Laura Flannery took off 3. Amelia Holmes took 1st place in the Open 50m Backstroke in a lightning quick 42 seconds, closely followed by Julia Wright and Hannah Etty. Lachlan Rice had a great evening, with outstanding performances in 25m Backstroke and 25m
Breaststroke.
The main event of the evening was the Mixed Open 100m Backstroke, being taken out by Amelia Holmes, with Julia Wright and Brooke Kinsela coming 2nd and 3rd respectively. Several seed times were also smashed including an 18 second improvement by Anja Gower.
Some junior swimmers to watch include Megan Cox, Alex Rice, Magnus Cleary, Matilda Cramp and Will Ward, who all put in a stellar effort to participate in as many races they could. Well done to all swimmers who get in and have a go.
This week is the beginning of Championships, so if you haven’t already checked your eligibility or signed up please do so before Wednesday night. Non-championship races will still run, so even if you haven’t qualified please come along and have a swim. Once again, many thanks to all of the helpers at Swimming Club. Your time is a gift to the community.
