Megan Woods will kick off the Sunday Sessions at the Bowlo on Sunday, 18 December.
Free live music, community spirit and fun times are back with Sunday Sessions at the Canowindra Community Bowls and Recreation Club kicking off this Sunday, 18 December from 3-6pm.
Having taken a three-year break, original organiser Eleena Markcrow from Canowindra Music & Events Co, decided the timing was right to get the music back to the Bowlo.
“The monthly events started back in 2018 as some drought relief for everyone in town and to provide a space for the community to engage in a conversation about the weather, good and bad times and general catch-ups while we supported live music in the region. During the three year break we have been through bushfires, flooding and COVID so it seems like an appropriate time to get people back together for some time out,” said Eleena.
Thanks to Carlton & United Breweries we have been able to get three shows together and make a small step back into the live music and community scene.
Each show will have a community group running the BBQ for some fundraising and first up this weekend is the Canowindra Junior Cricket Club. There will also be a kids arts and craft table set up, raffles and the courtesy bus will be running.
The first Sunday Session features Megan Woods, who has started to develop quite a following in the Central West with her new single ‘Shirt on the Floor’.
So what kind of music can you expect to heart? “So many songs and such a mix! From Fleetwood Mac to Melissa Etheridge, The Beatles, Rod Stewart, Dolly Parton, Shania Twain and so much more including some of my own songs. This year saw me drop my first original single ‘Shirt on the floor,” said Megan Woods.
