October’s “Sunday Session @ the Bowlo” is proud to present Bathurst local Andy Nelson. With a fantastic set list of tunes from the likes of Johnny Cash, Paul Kelly, John Butler, Prince, John Mayer and a classic Dolly Parton hit, Andy also performs his own music from his ‘Andy Nelson Debut EP’.
“I’ve loved music as long as I can remember. My mother would play it every day on the record player – loudly – from around 6am. The songs of Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison and Glenn Campbell are all too familiar sounds from my childhood,” Andy recalls.
A relative newcomer to the live performance scene Andy says “I decided to take the playing outside of the house and have a go at playing in public” and lucky for Canowindra as his debut EP echoes his musical influences.
“At the start of 2017 I decided to leave my full time job as an electrician at a company, and work for myself to allow for time to focus on playing, and writing music. With a 1 year old daughter now in our lives and a mortgage, it was a bit of a wild move, but one that I have no regrets about at all, it definitely takes a lot of hard work and sacrifice, but to be able to do something that you truly love doing, and make a living from it is one of the most rewarding things I have
done.”
“The support that is given by the venue owners and fellow artists out here in the Central West, is without a doubt the reason I continue what I am doing,” said Andy. The Canowindra Community Bowls and Recreation Club is happy to be providing this support for musicians.
Andy Nelson will perform at the “Sunday Session @ the Bowlo” on Sunday 7th October from 3 – 6pm.
