Stop! For Children!

There have been some major concerns by onlookers, parents, teachers and children of cars failing to stop at the Children’s Crossing when children are waiting to cross in Tilga Street. The law states that if somebody is in the bay ready to cross, cars MUST STOP until the pedestrian is completely off the crossing.

There have also been complaints that drivers are not obeying the 40km/h. speed limit and are having to stop suddenly for children already walking across the crossing. This raises huge concerns for parents and guardians allowing their children to walk to school.

“Even with the flashing lights warning that there are school speed limits and the bright orange flags with white paint warnings on the road of the approaching pedestrian crossing, drivers are not paying  attention and I’m worried about allowing my children to walk to school”, a concerned parent stated.

Please, please, please stop for children waiting to cross at the crossing, too many people have seen ‘almost’ accidents and we do not want this to become a fatal accident. Waiting a few seconds is nothing compared to a children’s life which is in your hands when you are behind the wheel.
