Western NSW Primary Health Network (WNSW PHN) is urging local families to stay COVID-Safe during these school holidays and is encouraging everyone to play their part in keeping themselves and others safe. WNSW PHN CEO, Andrew Harvey, says the region’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic has been brilliant so far.
“Everyone, from our medical and healthcare professionals through to businesses, families and individuals have done a wonderful job in doing their bit to ensure the health and safety of themselves and others to this point, but, as the region’s two recent cases show, we cannot afford to become complacent.”
He said, “While I expect that a lot of families will be taking the opportunity to travel and explore during the holidays, we still wholeheartedly encourage everyone to continue to practice safe social-distancing, proper handwashing and hygiene, and to remember to use their elbow or a tissue for coughs and sneezes.”
“I also cannot overstate the importance of being tested for any respiratory complaints. If anyone is suffering from cold or flu-like symptoms, I urge them to take the time to get tested at one of our region’s Respiratory Clinics, or to call their regular GP or local hospital for advice on how to get tested and, of course, stay at home when you’re unwell,” Mr Harvey said.
Once tested, people are reminded it is of utmost importance to the health of others that they remain isolated from others until they receive their test results.
