St Edward’s Primary School in Canowindra is very excited to launch into their new ‘Transition to Kindergarten’ program starting on Monday 20th July 2020.
St Edward’s is offering this transition program to any family in and around the community of Canowindra and it’s FREE! The program will run for 20 weeks concluding on Monday 14th November 2020.
From 9am to 3pm parents can drop off their child preparing for Kinder in 2021 at the newly prepared Kinder Transition Room.
Offering this program every Monday over twenty weeks will give young students preparing for Kindergarten a wonderful start to moving into their formal education years.
A transition program is different to an orientation program. An orientation program helps children and families become familiar with the school. A transition to school program assists children to understand the new routines, practices and expectations of the setting to which they are moving and help them to feel more confident and familiar with the process of change.
Students participating in the Transition program will be involved in a variety of fantastic activities that will develop their creative skills while gaining a great sense of joy from working with each other and staff.
The program will include planned experiences and activities, fine and gross motor skill development, early literacy activities and creative play.
“Children will also have fun in the school’s gym where they’ll complete challenging obstacle courses, climb and play,” said Principal, Ken McNamara.
The program is being run by qualified teachers with the full support of all members of the St Edward’s school community.
Families can place their child in the program at any time during the remainder of the year.
Interested families are welcome to contact the school office on 6344 1170 or during the holiday break on 0429 634 477 to gain a ‘Transition Information Pack’. All enquiries are welcome.
