Spring is the most beautiful time of year in Australia. The air hums with bees as they busily make their honey, lambs frolic in the paddocks and bright yellow canola sways in the breeze like fields of golden thread. Sounds more like a Mills & Boon novel than Canowindra doesn’t it?
Spring is also a time of renewal and regrowth. For fans of gardening, this is a good time of year to start your seedlings. Take some time to celebrate the new life that surrounds you by going for a walk, heading down to the river to fish or even just sitting on the verandah and sipping a beer.
After you’ve soaked up all the scenery, it’s time to sort out the house. Spring cleaning involves dusting, mopping and hovering every nook and cranny to blow out the cobwebs of the year. It’s thought that the origins of spring cleaning date back to the Persian New Year, which falls on the first day of spring. Modern Iranians continue the practice of “khooneh tekouni”, which literally means “shaking the house”, just before this new year. Another theory is that the act can be traced back to the Jewish practise of cleansing a home in anticipation of the spring-time feast of Passover. Whatever your beliefs, cleaning your living space creates a healthy atmosphere and a clear mind.
If you want to go one step further in your cleansing antics, why not hold a garage sale? Many of us have room packed with things we rarely use and wouldn’t miss and as the saying goes; one man’s trash is another man’s treasure! If you would like promote a garage sale or something similar, contact the Phoenix office.
So you’ve appreciated the rural beauty of our area, you’ve scoured the house, now it’s time to cleanse yourself. Everyone makes the new year’s resolution to cut out chocolate during the week or to finally join that big scary gym you’ve been avoiding since the 90’s, but if you’re anything like us you’ll know that these inner promises rarely come to fruition. The possible reason for this is because January is the wrong time of year to fulfil your inner promises; it’s normally far too hot! If you want to finally get healthy and shed kilos: Spring is the time to do it!
