20 August, 2014 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

On Sunday the 17th of August at Tom Clyburn Oval, the Canowindra Tigresses had an audience of cheering spectators. A chance field goal won The Tigresses game in the second half of overtime against Eugowra, beating them 7 – 6. It was a nail biting game as Canowindra fought for this win with everything they had right from the first whistle. At this stage in the competition there is no room for error which is exactly what the Canowindra ladies displayed, they were straight up to the Eugowra Geagles leaving them no room to run. Canowindra’s fantastic win was kick started once again by Jess Coker who was able to score the only try for Canowindra in the first 10 minutes of the game. The ladies then held their composure as they wanted to remain one try in front although unfortunately the Geagles were able to equal the score board right on half time bringing the score to 6 all. With wise words from Coach and trainers at half time the Tigresses stood their ground and defended incredibly as the score continued to remain the same for the whole of the second half. The game then went into overtime with 5 extra minutes each side of the field until a point was scored. At nearly 10 minutes into extra time spectators and supporters were on their feet as Canowindra had the ball and were running towards Eugowra’s territory when suddenly all eyes were on Kristy White as she kicked a field goal that bounced off the posts and landed itself straight through the middle while the Canowindra Tigresses screamed for joy at their victory. Players Player was awarded to Kristy White for saving the day with that brilliant kick. Kristy also displayed some fantastic defence as she helped her team chase down those Geagles. Absolutely phenomenal game for all of the Canowindra Tigresses as they now take in this win and use their new found confidence to hopefully have a winning result against Condobolin next weekend. Good luck Tigresses!
