Canowindra High’s first social of 2022 was a huge hit last week, with more than half the students welcoming Year 7 to the school in style.
The theme of the social was ‘Country and Western’ and the school’s SRC, led superbly by the senior leaders, created a welcoming atmosphere at the school’s hall. There were best-dressed prizes to be won and the hall was decorated nicely, complete with hay bales, stock whips (not used!) and a photo booth, artfully made by Ms Davis.
Appropriately, Year 7 had the highest number of guests on the night, although years 8, 9 and 10 also attended in strong numbers. With few opportunities to party in recent times, students filled the dance floor for most of the night, and behaviour was excellent.
DJ Kev’s choice of tunes was well received and he was equally impressed with the behaviour and enthusiasm of the students in attendance.
Ticket and canteen sales easily exceeded expenses and the SRC is to be congratulated for their excellent organisation. Best dressed winners were Ruthy Dick (year 7), Tommy Turner, Eve Moore (both year 10) and Oliver Etty (year 11).
