Parkes Henry Business Awards: The Parkes Phoenix currently attended the Henry Business Awards as a Finalist in the category of Start-Up Superstar.

Santa Photos: The Canowindra Pre-School Kindergarten Inc are once again offering Santa Photos for the lovely children of Canowindra. To be held on Saturday 25th November and Saturday 2nd December between 9am and 1pm each day at Montrose House. To book please call Adelaide on 6344 1261.

Day for Daniel – Wear Red: Students of Canowindra Public School are asked to wear something red this Friday 27th October for ‘Day for Daniel’ raising awareness on child safety. Students are asked to make a gold coin donation on the day and all funds collected by the SRC will be donated to the Daniel Morcombe Foundation.

Pink Ribbon Morning Tea: A huge thank you to Canowindra for supporting our Pink Ribbon Morning Tea last week, we raised
$452 for Women’s Cancers. Thanks to Tommy Jeffs for allowing us to use the lovely front garden of Montrose House, his gorgeous decorations and delicious food. Well done to Roie and Kelly from the Phoenix for organising, baking and selling raffle tickets and to all the local businesses who donated the raffle prizes.

Christmas Day Luncheon: The Christmas Day Lunch Committee is a voluntary group made up of community members who seek to enable people without family on the day, live alone, or are without resources, to celebrate Christmas Day. The meal is provided from goods donated and prepared by volunteers and is held at the Canowindra Bowling Club. There is no charge for the meal. Volunteers are needed for the event, and for membership of the Christmas Day Lunch Committee. For more information please contact Marion Wilson 0427 304 326, or Maureen Bermingham Co-ordinator for the day on 0487 201 300. The next meeting of the Christmas Day Lunch Committee will be held on Monday 30th October at 2pm in the CWA Rooms, Canowindra.

Councillor David Somervaille re-elected Chairman of Central Tablelands Water: At the meeting in Blayney on 18 October
2017, the Members of Central Tablelands Water County Council re-elected unopposed Cr David Somervaille, representing Blayney Shire Council, as Chairman and Cr Kevin Walker, representing Cabonne Council, as Deputy Chairman, for the next 12 months. Both Cr Somervaille and Cr Walker are serving their fourth term as Chairman and Deputy Chairman respectively.
