“Reflections” Opening: Newly appointed Cabonne Councillor, Cheryl Newsom, will be enjoying her first public engagement this
Friday (October 13), officially opening the Canowindra Arts “Reflections” exhibition at Montrose House. The event will feature more than 70 paintings and pottery works representing the talents of 16 Canowindra and regional artists, and it’s the fourth exhibition
mounted by the not-for-profit art development group since it was formed this time last year. The opening is at 5pm at Montrose House, with drinks and food, and all are very welcome.

CWA at the ANFD: The Country Women’s Association of NSW Central Western Group will again be serving tea, coffee and scones in the Style Pavilion at this year’s Australian National Field Days from Thursday 26th – Saturday 28th October. Cooking demonstrations will be held at 11.45am and 1.45pm each day where you can learn more about Australian Bush flavours, with tasting samples being offered. CWA cook books, jars of jam, relish and chutney will be available for sale, and why not purchase one of the CWA shopping bags to carry all your purchases and help reduce the use of plastic in the community. Your support will allow the CWA to give a grant from the proceeds to the Most Deserving 4th Year Apprentice through the Skillset network.

Can you name the most common mental health issue in Australia? New research by beyondblue shows most people are unable to identify the most common mental health issue in Australia. A survey reveals two in three Australians believe depression
is the most common mental health condition in the country. Only 13% correctly identified anxiety conditions as Australia’s most
prevalent mental health issue. “In any given year, more than two million Australians will experience anxiety, double the number who experience depression. One in four Australians will experience an anxiety condition at some stage in their life,” said beyondblue CEO Georgie Harman.

Date Unknown: The Canowindra Swimming Pool still has no set opening date for the 2017/2018 season with work and repairs still being carried out. The tiling of the pool started yesterday and Pool Operator Jarrod Strange said “I should know more by Monday about an opening date.”

Good Luck: To the 2017 Year 12 students from Canowindra High School for the HSC exams that start next week!
