Double Demerit Points: In an effort to deter speeding motorists and to increase road safety, there will be additional Police enforcement over this October long weekend period. Motorists are reminded that double demerit points apply to speeding offences, not wearing a seatbelt and using a mobile phone while driving. Double demerits will be effective from Friday 29 September to Monday 2 October inclusive.
Congratulations: To Karlie Irwin (our Guest Speaker at this year’s International Women’s Day Event) who was awarded the NSW Government Community Service Award on Tuesday of this week in Orange presented by Philip Donato MP. The award itself is quite prestigious as it recognises valuable contributions made by members of the community.

Canowindra Show: Congratulations to all the exhibitors at the Canowindra PA & H Show this year. Through the efforts of the Ladies Auxiliary and the Exhibitors the Cobley Pavilion provided a great display and sample of our local talent. Random Facts: A new study has found Aussies who play sports regularly are 64% more likely to achieve the majority of their financial goals. Cyclists and netballers (64%) came out on top as the most financially savvy thinkers and Golfers (57%) followed
by cricketers (51%) are most likely to seek financial advice.
Tractor Trek Success: Last Saturday 20 tractors set off from Orange on the annual Central West Tractor Trek. The Phoenix caught up with Geoff Porter the Trek Director and local Roy White from Canowindra at their first stop The Cargo Inn on Saturday morning. That night the trek handed over a cheque for $70,000 for Little Wings their chosen charity.
