Stork News: Evie May Carpenter was born on 1st August 2017, weighing 7pound 11oz. Proud siblings are Darius, Lucy, Chloe and Ada. Evie is a granddaughter to Wendy Hogan and Betty Carpenter and Great Grandfather is John Bermingham.

Giving Blood Feels Good: The Australian Red Cross Blood Service will be visiting Canowindra on Wednesday 30th August from 9.15am – 3.30pm at Morris Park in Rodd Street. For those wanting to give blood make sure you have 3 or 4 glasses of water or juice in the hours before you donate, have a good sized breakfast or lunch and please bring photo I.D. with you. Shady Swimming Pool: Have you seen the new shade’s that have been erected at the Canowindra Swimming Pool? There are two on the hill in blue and one over the Stephanie Scott memorial seat in yellow. Not long now until swimming season with the pool re-opening in October.

CWA Chat: A group of local CWA members met recently to discuss ideas for reducing waste in the Canowindra community. Ideas included bring your own bags when shopping, bring your own coffee cup to cafes for takeaway coffees, recycling soft plastics and encouraging people to compost food waste. It was a great meeting where ideas and information flowed and blossomed.

Election Candidates: With nominations for candidates closing yesterday for the upcoming Cabonne Council elections get in touch with Roselea at The Phoenix today to place your candidate profile in the paper!

Warning SCAM: Telstra wants to advise residents of Canowindra about a scam going around. People are calling mainly elderly
residents and pretending to be from Telstra, they then ask you to download and open Team Viewer and gain access to your computer stealing personal details and bank details.

Essential Support for Communities: Applications are now open for community halls in Essential Energy’s distribution area to apply for funding under Essential Energy’s 2017-18 Community Support Program to help ease their maintenance costs. For eligibility criteria and to apply, visit essentialenergy.com.au/communitysupport. Applications close at 5pm on Friday 15 September and successful applicants will be notified in October 2017.
