Cabonne Community Assistance Program Grants Now Open: Community groups in Cabonne are encouraged to apply for Council grants to improve the “liveability” of their areas. Applications are now open for Community Assistance Program grants designed to provide an ongoing or sustainable benefit to Cabonne communities. In order to be eligible for the Community Assistance Program, groups must be a not-for-profit organisation in the Cabonne Local Government Area and be undertaking a project on non-commercial facilities within the Shire.
Cr Gosper said the grants are provided on a 50:50 basis, but communities could provide their half of the funding through voluntary labour or in-kind contributions. Applications for CAP funding close at 5pm on Friday 18 August 2017. Further details about the grants and application forms can be obtained by contacting Cabonne Council’s Tourism and Community Development Coordinator Lynne Hawkes on 6392 3201 or by visiting the Council’s website www.cabonne.nsw.gov.au

It is Farm Safety Week: National Farm Safety Week aims to raise awareness of farm safety issues in rural communities across Australia. This year’s theme for Farm Safety Week is “Creating a resilient, safe and healthy ag community”, and seeks to focus on the practical issues that farmers can take to improve safety for themselves, their workers, family members and farm visitors. This in turn leads to better productivity and improved returns for the farm business – “Safety doesn’t cost, it pays”.

Country to Canberra: Are thrilled to announce details of the prestigious, 4th annual Leadership Competition for young rural women! At least 10 students will win an all expenses paid ‘Power Trip’ to Canberra to meet inspiring female leaders, undertake

To enter, just create a short video or write 400 words on our 2017 competition question about equality & ‘pathways to power’ for women. Head to the website www.countrytocanberra.com.au to learn more about the question, entry requirements and the life-changing prize. Perfect for teachers, parents and friends who want to encourage young go-getters to take their skills and confidence to the next level. Competition opens 25th July & closes 8th September.
