Flowers For Gaskill Street: On 23 September, Gareth from Cabonne Council dropped off flowers for Gaskill Street to be beautified. Tommy Jeffs along with Roger from the Lions Club had great joy in planting and seeing the smiles on people’s faces in the street as they walked by. This is the 8th year Tommy Jeffs has planted the flowers for Gaskill Street keeping the spring time delight smiles coming. If you haven’t seen them, enjoy a walk down the main street.

Unveiling Of New Catering Van For Canowindra Lions Cub: It’s been a very long wait, but now Canowindra Lions Club is finally celebrating the arrival of a new bespoke catering van. Our members wish to sincerely thank all those who helped in the fundraising efforts as well as Central West Team Penning (CWTP) for consistently booking us to cater for their quarterly events. Thank you also to Judd McKenna from the Fat Parcel for his advice of manufacturer. This fabulous food trailer will certainly be a blessing to our team after years of struggling with the 1966 ex PMG converted site van! Please join us along with Cadia Mine representatives, Phil Donato and Andrew Gee on Friday 9 October at 11am at Morris Park on Rodd Street. And perhaps a free sausage sizzle.

Tennis Doubles Competition: The popular tennis doubles competition hits off at 6pm on 15 October for 10 weeks, with the grand final to be played on 17 December. Games are played every Thursday and young players must be in high school to play. The cost is $100 per team, and to enter a team please contact Kylie Pull on 0427 618 340.

SHAPE Nominations: Congratulations to Canowindra High School students Nina and Georgie on being selected for possible inclusion in NESA’s SHAPE exhibition in recognition of their outstanding HSC Industrial Technology Major Projects. SHAPE features a collection of exemplary works from students across New South Wales studying Industrial Technology as part of their HSC.

Daylight Savings: Daylight savings starts this Sunday 4 October at 2am (AEST). Clocks will move forward by one hour, giving you more daylight in the evening.

Double Demerits: Motorists are being reminded that double demerit points will be in force for four days commencing on Friday 2 October and ending on Monday 5 October.

Farewell To The Class of 2026: Last week staff and students of Canowindra High School farewelled the Year 12 graduating class of 2026 at their final assembly. We wish the Year 12 students every success as they head into the HSC exams and begin the next chapter of their lives.
