NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) Cadet Program: Nine enthusiastic Year 11 students from Canowindra High School have been actively participating in the NSW RFS Cadet Program, held on Wednesday afternoon during sport time in terms 3 and 4. This exceptional initiative is designed to develop leadership skills, foster teamwork and instil a strong sense of community responsibility through volunteer service. Throughout the program, the committed students have been introduced to a wide range of essential skills required by first responders. These include basic first aid, hazard recognition, effective communication, operation of firefighting tools and equipment and foundational firefighting techniques. Well done to these students!

Courageous Year 11 cadets volunteered to sit inside a staged car wreck while it was carefully dismantled using the hydraulic ‘Jaws of Life’ – an unforgettable and impactful learning opportunity.
