Christmas Day Lunch Preparations: The Canowindra Christmas Day Lunch Committee, now generously sponsored by the Canowindra Lion’s Club, will meet on Wednesday 22nd November, 10.30am at Perennialle Plants to discuss 2023 Christmas Day Lunch preparations. Sunday Session At The Bowlo Celebrates Christmas 2023: Join in for the usual afternoon of great music with @ Jack Daintith Music, a visit from the big man himself, Christmas raffles, kid’s art table, a roll-up jackpot with your chance to win cash, get your shoes off for some barefoot bowls plus the BBQ supporting a local sporting team and bar snacks. It’s Snake Season: The arrival of warmer weather also means it is time to keep an eye out for snakes. If you see a snake remember to stand still, slowly move away if safe to do so. Keep calm, give the snake a chance to slither away. Leave the snake alone, do not try to catch it.
Support Our Superstar Athlete: There is still time to get a table together for the tiriva night being held at the Canowindra Services Club this Friday night to assist local athlete Emily Thomas to travel to Perth to compete in the All Schools National Championships in Hammer Throw. Tickets are $15 per person available at https://events.humanitix.com/emily-thomas-trivia-night.Various items are to be auctioned and prizes to be won with a fun night to be had for all members of the family. Minimum 5 people per table.
St John’s Wort And Livestock Nutrition Field Day: On Tuesday 28th November, Local Land Services will be holding a field day at the Grenfell Bowling Club in Cross Street, to look at the control of St John’s Wort and to hear about livestock nutrition. Topics will include:
• Biocontrol with Senior Research Scientist, Dr Andrew McConnachie, NSW DPI
• St John’s Wort herbicide control options with Tim Bartimote
• Understanding feed quality for livestock with Rohan Leach
• A field walk is also included to see the St John’s Wort herbicide demonstration.
