Baroquefest musicians will be performing, Saturday, 1st July at Perennialle Plants Canowindra.
The Trio Sonata Elevated To Perfection: On Saturday, 1st July, Concert four of the Canowindra Baroque Festival will be held at Perennialle Plants from 11am to 12pm.
Artistic Director and violinist Madeleine Easton is joined by two of Australia’s most lauded early music specialists Neal Peres Da Costa and Anton Baba to present a selection of Bach’s much loved Obbligato sonatas for violin, harpsichord and viola da gamba.
In a rare departure from his usual compositional style, Bach took the existing baroque trio sonata form and utterly excelled himself, producing a new and innovative example of three-part contrapuntal writing showcasing the depth of his musical expression and the apparently inexhaustible inventive resources of his genius. They are nothing short of perfection.
End Of An Era: The Canowindra Phoenix and the Canowindra Community are saddened to hear that Gleniss from the Trading Post will be closing her doors after nine years of operating her lovely store and café. The town will not be the same when the doors of the iconic building close. We thank Gleniss for all that she and her staff have put into the business over the years.
Farewell Tina: The team at Lawrence’s IGA would like to thank Tina for 21 years of service to the grocery store. Tina has been a much-valued staff member of Lawrences and will be greatly missed. We wish Tina the very best for her future endeavours.
Canowindra Progress Association: Thank you to everyone who attended the Progress Association meeting on Monday, 26th June. Some great ideas were discussed on the running of the association, and we look forward to implementing these at our next meeting. Moorbel Hall Markets: The monthly Moorbel Hall markets will be held this Saturday, 1st July from 9am to 1pm. A treasure trove of cooking, crafts, bric-a-brac and crafts. Just a short drive from town, Moorbel Markets are worth a visit.
