Cabonne Volunteers Win Big: Yeoval local Alf Cantrell and the Canowindra Branch of the Country Women’s Association (CWA) were big winners at the Central West Volunteer of the Year Awards held last week at the Bathurst RSL. Canowindra Branch of the CWA were awarded the Volunteer Team of the Year.
Cabonne Mayor Kevin Beatty congratulated the nominees and winners and said, “While I know that people choose to volunteer selflessly and without expectation of being recognised or rewarded, these awards help to do just that, recognise the importance of all our volunteers and their hard work, and help to encourage more community members to give their time.”
Mr Cantrell and the Canowindra Branch of the CWA will be invited to the Gala State Ceremony for the announcement of the 2022 NSW Volunteer of the Year.

Kick-Start Your Mining Career At Cadia: Newcrest Mining’s Cadia Valley Operations (Cadia) 2023 Apprenticeship Program has opened for applications. The program will see 10 apprentices join the team at Cadia in 2023, providing exposure to first-class mining techniques and methods, including the development of Australia’s largest block cave. In 2023, Cadia will offer apprenticeships in the following trades: Electrical, Fitter Machinist, Heavy Vehicle – Mobile Fleet, Auto Electrical, Technology & Innovation, and Boilermaking.
