Canowindra Public School students George, Noah, Jack and Jack had a great day at District Athletics in Cowra.
Garden Club: The Canowindra Garden Club held their AGM last week and have a new committee for 2022/2023. President is Jennie Dawson, Vice President is Carolyn Wythes, Secretary is Cath McGahey, Treasurer is Cheryl Wythes, Publicity Officer is Narelle Hughes and Program Managers are Bev Taylor, Anne Ward and Dierdre Keady. The club meets monthly on the third Wednesday with annual membership of $10 due now.
Night Time Bingo: Will be held each fortnight on a Wednesday night starting at 6:30pm at Canowindra Bowling Club. The first session will be on Wednesday 31st August, then each fortnight following this date.
Outside School Hours Care: Sharon Hawker, Principal of Canowindra Public School recently announced that the school will have a Before and After School Care service run by Big Childcare, commencing in 2023. The service will run from 7am – 8:30am and then 3pm – 6pm. The next five months will be spent planning and working with Big Childcare to put in place this much needed service for the community. Big Childcare will be looking for school aged children to attend and are also looking for quality educators to run the service. This new program is in the preliminary stages of planning and more information will be disseminated in the coming months.
Fire Safety Visits in Canowindra: This Saturday 27th August NSW Fire and Rescue firefighters from Canowindra and nearby stations will be doorknocking in town and conducting free Safety Visits.
What is a Safety Visit? Firefighters will attend your home and check that you have working smoke alarms, that they are in good working condition, and are installed in suitable areas. If you do not have one, firefighters will install a long-life battery-powered smoke alarm as well as replace existing smoke alarm batteries all at no cost. With your permission, firefighters will also ask you to show them around your home and property. This will allow them to give you personalised fire safety information including, but not limited to: winter fire safety, cooking fire safety, heaters and open fires, common electrical safety, barbecues and LPG cylinders, bedroom heating and wheat bags. Firefighters will also be able to provide advice on a fire escape plan in the event of a fire occurring in your home and how to call Triple Zero (000) to report emergencies.
