Pythonettie: The Australian Netball Captain Clare Mcmeniman will be coming to Canowindra on Wednesday 26th October at 4pm at the Oval.
Pink Ribbon Morning Tea: Lots of cakes and treats will be available out the front of the Phoenix Office at 10am on Thursday
20th October to help raise money for the Cancer Council. Donations can also be made online.
Community Halls Funding: Essential Energy is encouraging communities to apply for the 2016/17 Community Support Program
to put towards maintenance costs for these important venues. For more details visit Essential Energy’s website.
Cowra Christmas Street Festival: This year the festival will be held on the 16th December in Kendal Street Cowra. Market
stalls will line the street and there will be something for everyone.
Joke of the week: Why couldn’t the bicycle stand up by itself? It was two tired!
Is the five second rule legit?: No, bacteria can contaminate instantaneously. Foods that have high moisture content such as watermelon can also pick up germs the quickest. Carpet was one of the lowest bacteria transfers compared to that of tiles and stainless steel.
Catch of the week: Are you going fishing this weekend? Send in a picture of your catch to be in the draw to win a $30 voucher to Tackle World Orange. There’s one to be given away each month. To enter send in your photo to sales@canowindraphoenix.com.au
Hay Fever Season Upon Us: Quick remedy to try: 1 piece of ginger, 1 garlic clove, 5cm piece horseradish, 1 lemon juiced,
2tbs honey. Bring to boil ginger, garlic and horseradish in 1 cup of water. Simmer until the liquid is halved then add lemon and
honey. Take as a 5ml shot throughout the day when needed.
Quote of the week: Strength doesn’t come from what you can do. It comes from the things you once thought you couldn’t-
Les Brown
Open Garden Day: Is on this Saturday 22nd October from 9am-4pm. Seven gardens will be open to the public with a mix
of town and small rural gardens on offer. Tickets are $20 and are available from Canowindra High School before the day or on the day from gardens 1 and 7. Lunch and refreshments will be on offer all day at the Canowindra High School.
