The Canowindra Public School Girls Soccer Team came away with a 3-2 win at the PSSA Soccer Competition last week against Cowra Public School.
History of Houses: You would probably be amazed how often the Canowindra Historical Society and Museum are asked about the history of houses in Canowindra and the district by newcomers wanting to know about the history of their property and people from afar doing family histories. Regrettably, they often have to tell these people that they don’t have much information. If your Canowindra and district house has a story the Society and Museum would love to hear about it. If you have any old photos of the house and or gardens they would love to get copies for their digital archive. As people age and families move away a lot of the history of the social fabric is also melting away. Please consider helping to preserve the records and get in touch today.
Garden Club Turns 30: It was a wonderful celebration for Canowindra Garden Club with a luncheon for their 30th Birthday last week. Delayed by Covid, the day was held at the CWA rooms with 60 past and present members in attendance. President Carolyn Wythes introduced early members Mary Finn, Beth Rue, Rosemary Colclough and Dawn Langfield who told stories of the early days. Special guest speakers were Dee Napier of Liberty Garden Orange and Helen Green who bought the nursery and changed the name to Anything Grows that we all know in Summer Street. A great day enjoyed by all who attended, check out the photos in Be Seen.
Vouchers Expire: Don’t forget that the Service NSW Dine and Discover Vouchers will expire on June 30 2022. For a list of where they can be used head to www.service.nsw.gov.au
Andrew Gee Returned: Last week Mr Andrew Gee was officially returned as Member for Calare at the Declaration of the Poll Ceremony. “In a time of swings away from the coalition, it was truly humbling to see so many people turn out, chow down on a democracy sausage, and support my campaign at the ballot box,” said Mr Gee. “It’s a great honour to represent the fantastic country communities of the Central West, and I’m dedicated to ensuring our region continues to grow and thrive. Thank you to everyone who supported this year’s run, the hardworking AEC staff for tackling such a tremendous task, and my fellow candidates for a memorable campaign,” concluded Mr Gee.
