The ATO’s Tax, Super + You competition is back: The ATO’s all-new Tax, Super + You website is now live and the competition that is run as part of the program is a great opportunity for Australian high school students to unleash their creativity, while also learning the value of the tax and superannuation systems. The program helps build financial literacy in students, and they also have a chance to win some great prizes for themselves and their schools. Working individually or as part of a team, students are invited to write, make or film a creative entry for their topic in the categories of; Junior (Year 7–9): Tax, Super + Me – How tax impacts me in my daily life or Senior (Year 10–12) – Top four things I need to know about tax and super when I start my first job. Shortlisted entries in 2021 included films, stop motion videos, songs, rap, animations, and even a comic. Entries close on 19th August 2022, with the winners to be announced in October. Testing And Research City at Cudal: The NSW Government has unveiled its vision for regional NSW to become the Southern Hemisphere hub of cutting-edge autonomous vehicle technology, with a testing and research ‘city’ to be built at Cudal. The government announced a $9.5 million upgrade to the Future Mobility Testing and Research Centre – once the local airstrip – which opened in 2019. The goal is to develop Australia’s first certification site for driverless vehicles.

Above Average Rainfall Expected: The Bureau of Meteorology’s Winter 2022 Climate Outlook shows a slowly weakening La Niña is one climate factor influencing above average winter rainfall for most of central and eastern Australia in coming months. The flood waters in low lying areas in Queensland and NSW will slowly move inland towards South Australia over coming months.
