Stork News: Bianca and Anthony Howard are excited to announce the safe arrival of their second son Cody George Howard. Big brother Riley is very excited to have a little brother to play with. Cody was born at Cowra Hospital on Thursday 31st March weighing 8 pound 4 ounces. Proud grandparents are Garry and Kim Amos of Cowra, Rick Howard of Whitton and Ronnie Peacock of Finley.
Mobile Blood Donor Centre: Did you know one in three people will need blood during their lives? Despite the ongoing pandemic, it is important to remember blood and plasma donation remains absolutely vital. For those in the community that can give blood, the Mobile Blood Donor Centre will be in Canowindra on Tuesday 14th June from 9:15am to 3:15pm at Morris Park in Rodd Street.
The ATO’s Tax, Super + You competition is back: The ATO’s all-new Tax, Super + You website is now live and the competition that is run as part of the program is a great opportunity for Australian high school students to unleash their creativity, while also learning the value of the tax and superannuation systems. The program helps build financial literacy in students, and they also have a chance to win some great prizes for themselves and their schools. Working individually or as part of a team, students are invited to write, make or film a creative entry for their topic in the categories of; Junior (Year 7–9): Tax, Super + Me – How tax impacts me in my daily life or Senior (Year 10–12) – Top four things I need to know about tax and super when I start my first job. Shortlisted entries in 2021 included films, stop motion videos, songs, rap, animations, and even a comic. Entries close on 19th August 2022, with the winners to be announced in October. Testing And Research City at Cudal: The NSW Government has unveiled its vision for regional NSW to become the Southern Hemisphere hub of cutting-edge autonomous vehicle technology, with a testing and research ‘city’ to be built at Cudal. The government announced a $9.5 million upgrade to the Future Mobility Testing and Research Centre – once the local airstrip – which opened in 2019. The goal is to develop Australia’s first certification site for driverless vehicles.
Above Average Rainfall Expected: The Bureau of Meteorology’s Winter 2022 Climate Outlook shows a slowly weakening La Niña is one climate factor influencing above average winter rainfall for most of central and eastern Australia in coming months. The Outlook predicts the unusually wet conditions for inland parts of NSW, South Australia, Queensland and the Northern Territory are likely to be in the top 20% of wettest winters. The flood waters in low lying areas in Queensland and NSW will slowly move inland towards South Australia over coming months.
