Emily Thomas and Lila McCaffrey competed at the NSW State Hammer throw on Monday.

State Hammer Throw: Emily Thomas and Lila McCaffery competed in the NSW state Hammer Throw on Monday, 13th December in Sydney. Emily threw an amazing 39.96m earning her a silver medal in the U15’s. Lila threw a huge 40.32m earning her a bronze medal in the U14’s. Congratulations girls, look out Brisbane Olympics 2032!

Canowindra Foodbasket Closed For Holiday Period: The Canowindra Foodbasket has closed for 2021 and will return on Friday, 4th February 2022 at Canowindra Uniting Church Hall from 9:30am- 12pm.

Flood Recovery Assistance Available For Calare: Communities in the Calare electorate impacted by the recent storms and flooding can now apply for a short-term income support payment from the Australian Government.

The Australian Government Disaster Recovery Allowance (DRA) is available to support individuals whose income has been affected by the severe storms and flooding which slammed the region in November. Residents across the entire Calare electorate, which includes the Bathurst, Blayney, Cabonne, Dubbo, Lithgow, Mid-Western, Oberon and Orange LGAs, are welcome to apply if their income has taken a hit due to the extreme wet weather events in November.

Claims for DRA can be made to Services Australia from Tuesday 14 December 2021. Check your eligibility at www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/disaster

Eat Local Friday: The first, of hopefully many, twilight pop up markets dubbed “Eat Local Friday” will be held tomorrow, 17 December from 3pm – 6:30pm at “The Palms” in Gaskill Street. Interested members of the community are encouraged to come along, bring a picnic and enjoy some market shopping. For further information please contact Michelle on 0400 913 985.

The “Eat Local Friday” pop-up twilight markets will be held Friday, 17 December from 3pm – 6:30pm.
